Update

Wow, it's been a long time since I "blogged" here. What have I been doing, you ask? Getting a new job, that's what! Starting Monday, I will be the new receptionist for the Lampo Group, Inc. You can check out the company at www.daveramsey.com
I'd love to tell you all about how I came to get this job (and it's pretty cool, btw) but the story will have to wait for another day. Today I'm sick. Day 2 of a nasty cold. I'm a little bit worried because my right eye is running. Down my cheek as if I were crying. If I have pink eye I'm going to be really mad at the mother of the little boy in nursery this week whose eye was suspiciously pink looking....
But for now, it's 5 o'clock, I've got my jammies on, and I'm heading to bed. Good night.

A Snow Day Tale. Take 2

It seems the forecasters were right after all - they were just confused about which day would bring the snow. Look how beautiful it was at 6 this morning. The sky was just beginning to turn purple in the east, and the snow was still falling. It was a good morning to crawl back in bed! (Which is what I did after I took this picture) Due to the snow and illnesses, all of my work was cancelled today - SNOW DAY!!
Dave didn't have to be at work until 11, so we tramped through the snow for a while before clearing off our cars. It seemed we were the only ones with actual snow scrapers; I think our Southern neighbors were jealous!

Snow reminds me of home. Nashville is beginning to feel like home, but we still say "Back home in the North" pretty often.

But YAY for snow, because it definitely feels like home.

Shoes

Another clothing post.
I love these shoes.
A Target special.
Not very warm ,though.
I was afraid to wear them in the "snow" today
:)

A snow day tale

Weather forecasters. Deceivers! Liars! Yesterday, amid no small excitement, snow was forecast for the Nashville area.
Forecast is not even the right word. Snow was guaranteed. "The snow will begin to fall around midnight, with accumulations of 1-2 inches by morning." The schools were already all but closed. Those magical two words were whispered with excitement: Snow day. There was a run on milk, bread, and gas. No matter that only 1-2 inches were expected; better to be safe than sorry in a Southern snowstorm.
Imagine the disappointment this morning when there was no snow to be seen. Not a single flake had made it to the ground. Cries of little children could be heard throughout the South. No snow day.....But wait! Turn on the news. The schools were closed anyway! It was a snow-less snow day!
While some counties did receive a dusting of the white stuff, our county recorded no precipitation. But why let a small detail like that stop you? Most Middle Tennessee counties closed due to a snow storm that accumulated little more than hype.
Dave and I have dubbed today the "Snow Anticipation Day." Isn't it beautiful?

Good day, Sunshine

Today is a preview of Spring. The sun is (and has all day been) shining. The air is a warm 50 degrees, with a slight breeze. It makes me want to grow things. It will be February next week - is that too early to start?

My peppermint plant loved the sunshine today. I swear that tall stem grew in just a few hours.

Showing off...

Just wanted to show everyone my latest (finished!) project! These fingerless gloves are probably the coolest thing I've knit so far. Thanks to Mom and Rachel for encouraging me to try cables. You were right, it's really not that hard :) These were not at all hard to make, so I think I might give this first pair away, and knit another for myself. I'd like to alter them a little to better fit my long hands. But on the other hand, I'm kind of attached to this pair already!
